縦コン Tatekon

昨日は今年度第2回の縦コンがありました。

Yesterday, we held the second Tatekon.

動物生態学分野では、肥料・農薬を一切使用せず、圃場にタニシを投入してイネを栽培しました。

今回の縦コンでは、そんな無肥料・無農薬の“タニシ米”を用いて、おにぎりを作りました。

We grew and harvested rice, not applying fertilizer & chemicals, using mud snails.

In this time, we cooked rice balls, made of "Snail Rice" harvested in this year.

おにぎりの具材は、研究室のメンバー全員がそれぞれ食材を持ち寄り、各々の個性に満ち溢れた9種類のおにぎりが出来上がりました。

Every lab member prepared each ingredient inside rice balls. 9 kinds of rice ball, showing each member's characteristic, were created.

研究室の定番料理となったカボチャの味噌汁と共に、個性豊かなおにぎりたちを頂きました。

We had unique rice balls with pumpkin miso soup, which became official food in lab.

動物生態学分野流のおにぎりの楽しみ方は、次のような感じです。

How to enjoy rice balls is as follows.

まずは、全員におにぎりを配ります。

First, handed out them for every kinds.

次に、作った人が自身のおにぎりについて説明をします。

Next, cooking person made a brief presentation about his/her rice ball.

説明が終わったら、いざ実食。

After that, let's eat.

そして、一人ずつ感想を言い合います。

忘れてはならないのは、ここは競争の場であるということ。各々が自分のおにぎりがNo.1だと確信しています。

だからこそ、時々辛口な感想が出てしまうのも・・・仕方ないですよね！？

And then, said impression one by one.

Everyone never forgot this is competition. Everyone had confidence that own rice ball is the No.1.

Therefore, it was natural to say critical comment !?

お酒無し、みんなで育てたお米を噛みしめ、英語で議論する。

そんなスタイルの縦コンがあってもいいですよね。

Not drinking, only tasting rice produced by ourselves, and discussing in English.

Such style of Tatekon also sounds good, I think.

今回は3人の2年生が来てくれました。

突然英語での発言を求められたにも関わらず、思いの外みんなよく喋ってくれて驚きました。

来年入ってくる後輩に負けぬよう、もっと英語を話せるようにならなければ。

In this time, 3 of 2nd grade students came to our room.

Although they were asked to speak English suddenly, they spoke better than I thought.

Next year some of 2nd grade students will belong to our laboratory.

I had better improve my English ability.
