Insect day

日本では今日は虫の日、ですね。

Today is the Insect day in Japan as we call insect "Mu-shi", and today is 4th Jun.

In Japanese, we can read "6" in "Mu", and "4" is "Shi."

* Normally we read from the date, then month. So today is Mu(6)-Shi(4)

この研究室では、生態学の研究をするために、生き物を使います。

例外なく私も、1000匹以上のタニシを使ってきたでしょうか。

Our laboratory use creatures to study ecology.

I also use more than 1000 snails.

彼らが淡々と食べては排泄する日々を繰り返し、周りの生き物や環境を変化させていく姿を間近で見ると、生態系が持つ関わり合いの重要性を学び、自分の生き方を問われている気持ちになります。

The snail just feed and output excreta again and again, then they alter surrounding environment and creatures. I have learned the gravity of the relationship in Ecosystem and I wonder how I live in this society.

そしてたまに、多くの命を徒に殺めるという酷いことをしているのではないかと考える時があります。まあ、ほとんどそれを忘れてただ使ってしまうことの方が多いのですが。

Sometimes I guess did I guilty things as kill so many lives. But almost I forget the question and just doing.

しかし今日に限っては、私がデータを得るために多くの命を「使って」きたことを思い出すべきだと思っています。そしてその事実が、私が形としてそのデータを残す一つの必要性を語っている、そう思いました。

Especially for today, I should remind me I have used so many lives to get data.

And that fact tells me how much I should devote to finish writing as a thesis.

今は、論文を読み漁ることにほとんどの時間を費やし、なかなか進まない自分と戦っています。

でも、今日この日を迎え、私が努力する必要性をもう一度思い返すことができました。

Now I am struggling to read papers and making story line.

But thanks to today, I　was aware of the importance of this effort again.
