7月5日に、パルシステム埼玉の研修の一環として行われた生き物調査に参加致しました。庄内の有機農家の高橋さんの田んぼをお借りして、網を使った簡易的な調査を行いました。
5th July, professor Sato, Shirai kun, and I participated in the training session of Pal-system Saitama to do the aquatic organisms research in organic paddy field. We borrowed one paddy field from Mr. Takahashi, organic farmer.
毎年参加しているのですが、今年は女性の職員さんが多く来られていました。
皆さん積極的に田んぼに入り、熱心に生き物を探していたのが印象的でした。
Our laboratory is given the opportunity every year, and this year lady staff participated in that activity unusually. They were very fascinated in the research and went to field again and again.
今回の調査では、アキアカネのヤゴや、ゴマフガムシ、ドブシジミが多く見られました。
また、なかなか珍しいモノアラガイも見つかり、経時的な調査をしたらもっと面白いものが見つかりそうだなと思いました。
In this year research, we found common dragonfly larvae, water scavenger beetle and clam. There was also rare Japanese big-year radix. I wonder we would find interesting data if we monitor the paddy.
また、高橋さん曰く、今の田んぼでは水を引いているところがほとんどなので、水があるところには生き物が多く集まっているとのこと。その言葉の通り、調査実施田んぼから少し離れたところで、大量のタニシやドジョウを取ってきてくれました。
As Takahashi san said that there would be many creatures where there was ample water. And that was true. He proved that he brought us so many mud snails and roaches from near place.
その後はなの花温泉田田に移動し、ひとっぷろ浴びた後、パルシステム埼玉のスタッフさんと、庄内産直ネットワークの皆さんや有機農家さんとの交流会にて、先生とM2の二人が田んぼの生態系について、また各自の研究について発表させていただきました。
After that we went to “Nanohana-onsen den-den” and took a bath, we joined the social gathering. In the beginning of that, we gave presentation about the function of ecosystem on the paddy field and our research.
今回のキーワードは「バランス」でした。私にとっては難しいバランスを取るということ。生態系から学んでいきたいです…

Keep balance. I should learn from good ecosystem to keep it.
その後はおいしい食事に舌鼓を打ちつつ、交流を深めました。本当に毎年温かく迎えて下さっています。実際に生業として有機の稲作を行っている姿や、私と同じくらいの年の方々が一人前に働いているところを見るにつけ、身の引き締まる思いがしました。After that, we have good time with big cuisine. I can’t thank them enough to treat us very much for every year. I was impressed that the organic farmers worked very hard to earn money as their calling and young generation as same as me did it very well. Well, I can’t help thinking how different between them and me. Anyway, thank you very much for fruitful time.
