Oranda Senbei Factory Tour

Last week, international students at Yamagata University had an opportunity to visited Oranda Senbei Factory in Sakata city. Senbei factory building was designed in an oblong shape with a length 545 m. I enjoyed the tour in the factory and seeing the process to make senbei. There were three steps to make senbai : 1) making the dough, 2) baking and 3) packaging the senbei.

I also enjoyed the sample of the rice dough and fresh senbei. In the factory, I learned about Shonai rice and rice making, the historical of Sakata Beika and new knowledge about senbei. In the end, I tried to baked senbei by myself and bought some souvenirs and the senbei. That was an amazing study tour.
