Quiet Spring

An abnormal winter was over and spring is coming.

I think spring is the most famous season in Japan. No matter what, there are cherry blossoms in Japan. When people all over the world imagine Japanese flowers, they will first think of cherry blossoms. When spring comes, people gather under cherry trees and hold banquets, which called "Hanami". This is a traditional Japanese event where people who survived the harsh winter celebrate the blessing season together. It is very lively and seems to welcome the fertility. However, it seems different this spring.

A week before, I passed a river. It was sunny and covered in yellow and pink, which were rape blossoms and cherry blossoms. Usually, at this time it is filled with many people and very lively. But, there was no person when I saw it. Around urban, it was required the self-restraint of gathering and it was prohibited to stop and see cherry blossoms in Tokyo because of COVID. COVID disturbs people to go out and do some activity. Although the raucous spring should come after the silent winter, it seems to still winter even spring season coming.

I hope virus winter will be over as soon as possible and get back spring.
