Aodaisyo, a house keeper

最近は蛇の動きが活発になってきましたね。当年もののカエル（今年生まれたカエル）も結構大きくなってきました。そんな中で昨日見かけたアオダイショウ。まだ小さい（それでも70ｃｍくらい）ので模様が目立ちます。大きくなるとアオダイショウってすぐわかるんだけど、小さいとドキっとしますね。マムシに一瞬見えるので。アオダイショウは家の守り神として知られています。インドネシアでも同様に、蛇ではなくてオオトカゲが家に住み着いていると、私が懇意にしている、インドネシアのとある村の農家が教えてくれました。

On these days, snakes are often shown in the field. One common species is a sort of ratsnake, with striped pattern. But the one I saw yesterday was not striped, but grid pattern, shown in the picture. The grid patterns is surprisizing as it resemble to that of the snake, called Mamushi. The snake yesterday was Aodaisyo. In our tradition Aodaisyo is thought to be a house keeper to protect your house from mouse and other possible pest. It was similar in indonesia. The family I have visited often told me they also have a reptiles lived in the house, and it was lizard, it sized up to 1m.
